The argument online is whether or not one should post their relationship online, whether status or even pictures of their other half’s.
Everyone has an opinion about this situation, some people are for and some people are against. Each argument is compelling and it’s really tough to take a side and so I’ve decided to stick to staying on the fence.
The decision to try to find a side to this social dilemma is thanks to the “Uche Jumbo Situation”. The star actress and producer took to instagram to inform her followers that she would no longer be updating them with anything that has to do with her family.
According to her, taking off her husband’s name “Rodriguez” has brought about some unwarranted and malicious rumours about the state of her marriage and she no longer wants that hence the decision.
Social media is so powerful that it has the effect to destroy your relationship, whether or not the relationships were solid or not is not the argument; the point is people no longer mind their own business.
One needs to understand that secrecy and privacy are different things; this social media generation doesn’t seem to understand this. There are only a few people that have navigated the waters e.g Adesua Etomi, Nadia Buari, Stephanie Coker etc… this celebrities kept their relationship under wraps, nobody was the wiser and that’s how it should be.
This is a compelling argument but then there are those people who were saved by social media, e’g Ice prince, their two timing partners were exposed thanks to social media.
