I never liked hard boiled eggs except it was wrapped in flour (local egg roll) or in beef (scotch egg), now that I think of it, I still cannot eat hard boiled egg if it’s not along side something. The thought and sight of scotch eggs brings back a lot of child hood memories. I just don’t have fat gene’s because I was close to being a fast food junkie (thanks to daddy) and one of my favorite things to ask for then was scotch egg.
Originally the scotch egg was made out of necessity in the middle ages by Scottish farmers and Shepherds, they did this so they wouldn’t have to return home for lunch. It was a means to be strengthened and have nutrients on the go. Scotch eggs consist of four main ingredients, egg, Sausage beef, flour and bread crumbs but this days there are so many ways people try to add their own twist to the normal scotch egg recipe. some add cheese, pickle, nutmeg, curry, thyme and a lot of other ingredients to give it a new and refreshing taste. So we say thank you Scottish farmers for this delicacy we now know and love.
