Fulani Brides are intriguing due to how they express their Northern Nigerian culture. Their multicultural heritage is expressed through their dressing and tribal art. The Fulani bride is a work of art. Everything about her is distinct; from her usually easy-to-recognise physical features – high cheekbones, flawless complexion – to the actual art that adorns her body.
The Fulani people are estimated to number forty-five million across a whopping thirty countries. They are Fulani’s (aka Fula or Fulbe) from West Africa and North Central Africa. They can be found mostly in West Africa, but are also spread across Central Africa and almost as far in North Africa as the desert and residents of Guinea, Mali, Niger, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Sudan, and Sierra Leone. They are one the largest dispersed Muslim Ethnic groups in Sahel and West Africa who originated from North Africa and Middle East.
The fulani bride wears a white cotton 2-piece attire with brightly-coloured accents; and lovely, colourful, beaded bangles, earrings, and headbands around her neatly-braided hair. She may even wear very large, gold jewellery and artsy headpieces. They are also spotted with tribal jewellery from head to toe with henna (lalle) drawings on their body.
In any case, one constant is the beautiful lalle or henna design that intricately decorates her arms and legs; an ode to her heritage. Let us look at these Fulani brides that served tons of style.
We love the Fulani culture and have also seen many Fulani brides in Nigeria take inspiration from other Nigerian cultures due to its rich multicultural heritage.
