Marriage is a universal institution which is recognised and respected all over the world. Traditional wedding is a popular phenomenon all around Africa, especially in parts such as Ethiopia, Uganda, Ghana and Nigeria. The ceremony is culturally important because it focuses largely on the merging of the two families, where the bride is given a special importance, as it is believed that her unborn child is representative of the two families truly coming together.
In Nigeria, the traditional wedding is especially significant and does not fall short of the extravagance. As usual traditional styles can be seen as boring and outdated in modern times, but recently traditional wedding attire is experiencing a paradigm shift which is why we got the photos from Joy and Iredia’s Benin and Yoruba traditional wedding.
Dressed in Bini and Yoruba traditional outfits by Shadiat Alasooke of Shukky Fabrics, Joy and Iredia were the spotlight with all smiles as they said their wedding vows. Joy was glammed up in stunning makeup looks to match her different traditional outfits by Beauty Matterz with beads and Okuku by Osafamen Winfred.
Joy and Iredia’s traditional wedding was planned by Gee works and Decor with Klala photography behind the lens.
