How splendid was your weekend? Well it must not have been as interesting as that of the daughter of Late Dr Dora Nkem Akunyili, Chidiogo. The writer and speaker got hitched in Anambra state this weekend to her boo Andrew Parr in an unconventional wedding. The duo got married first, at the church where the bride wore an Africa print inspired wedding dress – the dress had a sheer lace top which showed off a colourful print backdrop and the bottom was a beautiful white satin made into a hi-lo skirt. Her groom also kept it minimal and clean spotting a cute white caftan with print pocket square while his groomsmen wore dark blue caftan with print pocket squares and beads.
The wedding was quite traditional even though the white was done before the native – something that is rarely ever achieved in this parts. Chidiogo definitely had a good time at her wedding and for the traditional the melanin beauty changed twice, one a lovely red dress with beaded crown and the other the traditional Igbo native blouse and two-wrapper style complete with a head gear
Here’s a caption from the bride;
Andrew and I made a conscious effort to infuse this day with the intention of love and #sacredflow. So much gratitude to all the people who made the day filled with laughter, tears, music, dance, love, and the knowing that my mother was with us every step of the way 🙏🏾 @andrewparr #chidandrew
