We might be saying goodbye to some old trends but the “Fringe” is definitely here to stay. Seen almost everywhere, on the runways and in everyday street style, this classic trend is a must-have bag in your wardrobe. Fringe bags are back on the scene this season, and we couldn’t be happier.
Doing something as easy as adding fringe to a simple leather clutch will make you wonder how one could live with a such a boring pouch to begin with as everything is better and beautiful with fringe. A few punches here and some knots there you’ll have your own fringe clutch to show off (no sewing needed) This DIY leather fringe clutch is fairly easy to construct and I just love how the leather flounces as it moves.
Materials needed are,
- Leather clutch/purse
- Multi hole Punch
- Piece of leather lace
To begin, turn the leather pouch inside out. Draw a straight line a few millimeters above the bottom seam and make dotted marks along the line. Use the second largest hole size to punch holes through the marks.
Cut strands of leather lace. Take one strand and thread it through the front face of one set of holes. Bring the other side of the strand over the edge of the pouch and through the hole on the back face.
Pull both ends from the inside of the pouch. Repeat with all the holes.
Turn the pouch right side out and adjust the strands so the ends match.
While keeping the strands sandwiched together, tie a knot and tighten close to the edge of the pouch. Repeat on all the strands.
Done…you’ve got yourself a leather fringe clutch
Fringe is definitely having a moment. With this trend look symbolizes the free spirit in all of us, which is why we love it so much!
