Generally, meat is eaten cooked, but many recipes call for raw beef, veal or fish (tartare). Steak tartare is a meat dish made from finely chopped or minced raw beef or horse meat. You know very well that there are different kinds of meat; Dog meat, Horse meat, Alligator meat, Kangaroo meat and many others. These may be sounding so alien to you right? Of course because I know that we are so used to beef and chicken in this part of the world. The cow meat also known as beef, is the commonest of all. In that way, we are actually dealing with a special recipe today, which is no other than the Mincedo; Minced Meat and Plantain Sauce!
Well, this special recipe is inspired by the party favourite gizdo or gizzard sauce, but minced meat combined with incredible spices will be made use of here. Trust me, it is extremely delicious. You can even confuse it for beans and stew, mere looking at it. It pairs perfectly with everything from rice to quinoa to pasta. It’s sure to be your new go to favorite sauce. Here is what the Mincedo looks like;
The ingredients needed for your Mincedo are;
- 950 g minced beef or turkey
- Maggi – 4 cubes
- Salt – to taste
- 1 tspn ginger
- 1 tspn pepper
- 1/3 cup cooking oil
- 1 large onion – finely minced
- 3 garlic cloves – minced
- 1-2 hot peppers – Minced
- 3 large tomatoes – minced
- Teaspoon each – Curry and thyme
- 2 large plantains – cubed and fried or baked
- 3 cups vegetables of choice (bell pepper, mushroom, minced carrot etc)
