We are all over the turban head accessory trend that was so endearing during the 40’s and 70’s. It has now made a huge come back on the streets, on the runways, in editorials and everywhere you turn. We cannot get enough of this accessory that’s reminiscent of an Arabian night. The look is now surprisingly wearable given the vast interpretations that are being created.
It is a fashion statement that has come to stay. It is very trendy these days and ladies wear it to various occasion. Something about the turban is that it can also be worn on corporate wears. But, just how did this trend originate?
Communities with prominent turban-wearing traditions can be found in the Indian Subcontinent, Afghanistan, South Asia, the Arabian Peninsula, the Middle East, the Near East, Central Asia, North Africa, the Horn of Africa, the Sahel, and parts of the Swahili Coast.
It is a type of headwear based on cloth winding. Featuring many variations, it is worn as customary headwear by men of various countries but later became a common trend for women especially these days. The headgear also serves as a religious observance. Also, turbans have often been worn by nobility, regardless of religious background. They are also sometimes donned to protect hair or as a headwrap for women following cancer treatments.
The turban adds a touch of quirky-ness to your every day look; it can be dressed down with a tee and jeans or worn for a lovely night out with your favorite dress. It’s a cool accessory for a wear now and also to carry into this weekend which is why we have got this Friday turban lookbook for you…
