At one point in Nigerian fashion history experimenting with the Ankara fabric was unconventional, nobody wanted to be branded as being too African but designers like Modella, Lisa folawiyo, Ituen Bassi and the like’s decided that using African print would be their niche market. These celebrities took the fabric to greater heights, Lisa with her embellished details and Ituen with her fringe concept both took the world by storm and we are grateful to them for opening that gate.
A couple of years down the line Rihanna wore an Ankara dress made by ‘Stella Jean’ to the white house and the rest is history. Today the fabric is celebrated all over the world with creative styles that literally “knock our socks off most of the time”.
Creativity and Ingenuity cannot be boxed up and I totally am here for these Ankara styles… This looks are totally hot and are mostly for the girl who doesn’t care about anything but her comfort, the girl who exudes confidence in anything she wears.
