One of my sources of inspiration is to see women do well in business, its the motivation that keeps the fire burning and over the past few years a lot more women have been involved in ground breaking business all over the world including our very own Nigeria. The ideology that a woman can hold her own in the business and career world and still hold her family together has made its rounds to the country, no longer do we see women sitting on their asses doing nothing and this 7 most successful business women in Nigeria are our inspiration.
This top business women never had it easy but today we celebrate them;
1. Folorunsho Alakija
I grew up to this name, Folorunsho Alakija has always been a business tycoon but her name spread across the globe when Forbes declared her the richest black woman in Africa and the world beating Oprah by a land slide. Her businesses include textile, Publishing, Oil and many others.
2. Bola Shagaya
Another socialite and another name I grew up hearing, Bola Shagaya is another globally recognized name. She’s among Africa’s top 5 richest women and she has her investments in oil, real estate, banking and others.
3. Florence Ita Giwa
The name Florence Ita Giwa (aka mama bakassi) has always been on our lips, we might forget this two women often times but not Florence Ita Giwa. She has managed to remain relevant till this day. The former senator is also a smart business woman with investments in Oil, real estate and entertainment
4. Dr Stella Okoli
Unlike this other women who have graced the social lime light, Dr Stella Okoli CEO and founder of Emzor pharmaceuticals is more relevant to her field. A powerful woman who believes in making the world a better place through good and safe health care.
5. Ibukun Abiodun Awosika
I remember when I saw her on a show on Tv (something on business and loan) I said to myself now that’s the kind of woman I would like to be, Powerful, resilient and smart. Ibukun Abiodun Awosika has certainly paid her dues she’s a trail blazer who last year, was appointed chairman of first bank. She also has her furnishing business that’s taking the world by storm.
6. Mosunmola (Mo’) Abudu
Mo abudu took everyone unaware, I loved her show moments with Mo because I felt it was refreshing and different next thing I hear Mo’ Abudu has built herself an entertainment empire known as Ebony Life Television. She was recently described as “Africans most successful woman” rightly so I might add.
